Body Check Mutator Released 03-May-2005 07:51:34am EST
Second in our line of small diversions comes Body Check:
Body Check is a small mutator that adds drama to your UT2004 games by letting players push each other round the map, and taking out all aspects of air control.
Different approaches can lead to different outcomes, and the many combinations of two opponents colliding in standing, running, jumping and crouching positions adds some fun strategy to the game.
This is basically a test package for the movement we will be implementing in Marshmallow Duel. Some of the mduel-specific code (such as no dodging or double jumping and cooler jumping code) has been removed to make this 'more UT'.
SoldatUT Final Release 13-Apr-2005 05:20:35am EST
What will officially be the final release of SoldatUT (again) just made it onto the files page.
Version 4 not only adds in vehicle and onslaught support (this was in version 3 but I forgot to post news about it), it also fixes up critical bugs which prevented running dedicated servers.
There's some new screens there of vehicles in action so be sure to check it out.
Speaking of SoldatUT, 13 new maps are now available to download, which pospi converted over from the UT2003 mod smashU2k3.
We haven't been able to find out much about the author of these maps yet, so if anybody knows please let us know so we can credit him or her.
New Team Member 09-Apr-2005 11:43:11pm EST
A new team member has officially joined the project today!
Liam will hopefully be doing all our sound for us, because we are pretty lousy at that side of things, and he rocks.
More team members means more time to work on the things we are good at!
Mduel Masters to Join Concept Team! 04-Apr-2005 04:59:01pm EST
Yes, that's right, the guys behind the original Marshmallow Duel are both now playing a small part in MD:MR.
They will be joining as part of our concept team, and will be brainstorming and running ideas around at every opportunity.
This is fantastic news, as it means we can truely make MD:MR a worthy sequel!
Soldat UT v2 22-Mar-2005 09:09:49pm EST
After recieving a lot of interest and bug reports on soldatUT, it has been very easy to assess people's opinion of it and make the mod even better for everyone.
We would like to thank you for your support and interest as this makes developing MD:MR much more rewarding for us, since we get to implement what the community really wants.
So, a new version is now released, which should fix all the problems people had with version 1.
Fixes:
Fixed multiplayer stuttering bug.
Removed player collisions (no more WTF telefrags).
Redid zoom function for scoped weapons, camera now zooms out accordingly.
Tightened camera smoothing to reduce apparent mouse lag on low-end computers.
Better controls - 'Forward' and Backward' keys are now used as jump/duck keys (no more rebinding keys for WSAD users).
Here at MD:MR, we have instigated a policy of releasing interesting things we develop along the road to our finished mod as standalone items for UT2004.
This should help us gauge the effectiveness and appeal of various elements so that we can improve upon them for the finished product.
The first in our series of small UT2004 mods was released yesterday, taking the form of a 2D sidescrolling mod. The mod changes UT gameplay into a 'Soldat' style game, and includes some nice improvements on other 2D mods.
So, click here to download SoldatUT straight away!
Welcome! 12-Mar-2005 06:44:27pm EST
Hello and welcome to the official website for the UT2004 mod, Marshmallow Duel : Mowbray's Revenge!
At the moment there is not much to see - we have an images section with a lonely teaser image sitting in it, which will be filled up rapidly as development progresses.
We want to involve the community as much as possible in our mod's development, so please peruse our developer journals section to see what we are up to on a regular basis.
If you are really interested, send one of the team an email and request a special 'mod watcher' username and password, which you can use to access a restricted area of the site as well as participate in team discussion with us. We will only be offering this service to truely fanatical Marshmallow Duel fans!
Well, that's all for now. Keep posted as we hope to stay very active throughout this project's lifetime. At the moment we are aiming for a prototype release date mid-year, with the full mod being released towards the end of November.
