It seems that, due to an unforeseen problem, Mowbray's Revenge won't actually work for most people.
It's very strange that nobody has informed me of this, I mean the mod has been out for an extremely long time.
Basically, it has a dependency to bodyCheckv2 that got left in somehow... The installer on our local site has been updated to include the missing files.
If you already have a copy of MD:MR, the good news is that you can make it work by simply downloading Body Check and installing it into your copy of UT2004 as well.
Marshmallow Duel DS 29-Oct-2006 11:11:28pm EST
Nothing to do with Mowbray's Revenge per se, but I've just released a new version of the classic Marshmallow Duel which contains or improves upon everything that made the original Marshmallow Duel and Mowbray's Revenge so great.
More info can be found at the official mini-site:
Character Design Comp Winner 02-Dec-2005 12:46:54am EST
It's been a while since the mod was released and so anyone who cared to look will have known the winner of our character design competition.
A huge congratulations to Killadee for his wonderful character Bots ba Tofski!
Being such a great guy, Killadee insisted that he required no prize. So instead, as a general show of our support and appreciation, the team did some fan art of his character:
So congratulations to Killadee for his great addition to the mod. You can find Bots ba Tofski in the game, and in fact you have probably played the guy once or twice already!
Public Release 1 21-Nov-2005 07:11:00pm EST
And so, after 7 months of work it gives us extremely great pleasure to release our first public beta of the mod!!!
We hope you all enjoy it as much as we did making it, and find it a worthy successor to one of gaming history's timeless classics.
So what are you waiting for? Head on over to the files page and download it now!
Trailer 09-Nov-2005 10:35:05pm EST
Following our pre-release LAN party the other night, we've now compiled the footage into a full trailer. Go to the files page to download now, and see what the mod is going to look like!
And a quick heads up on the release date, the mod will be out on the 13th at the earliest, 20th at the latest. This depends on how long it takes our mappers to add finishing touches to their maps. We figure a few days extra waiting should be worth some extra high quality maps!
Maya 6 02-Nov-2005 07:36:59pm EST
This is just a quick message so you all know that the Character Dev Kit has been updated to include a Maya 6.0 rig (previously there was only a 6.5 one). Thanks to Kizza for doing this!
There are only 9 days left to go in the character design competition, so get cracking!
Finalising Stuff 19-Oct-2005 12:35:40am EST
Great news! The core of the mod is now final.
This means that there are no bugs remaining (well, no important ones), the mapping tools and actors are complete, and there are no new features to be added.
This puts us well ahead of schedule, so we now have more time to be working on cool stuff like maps and character models.
Anyway, the point is: the mod is around 95% finished!
Release Date and Character Design Competition 04-Oct-2005 06:47:36am EST
With work on the mod strongly progressing, we feel confident in announcing a release date of the 13th of November. Prepare yourself!
It's also time for us to announce the
Character Design Competition!
That's right, we are looking for talented modellers and texture artists to give their contributions. For a chance to get your creations into a mod, build up your portfolio and win a USB vaccuum cleaner (hehe), download the character dev kit from the files page and get started!
For more information, and to announce your creations, head over to this forum thread.
Site Downtime 02-Sep-2005 06:04:27pm EST
As many will have noticed, our site has been down for the last few weeks. This was due to some server issues we've had with multiple servers.
The current server is looking good, and all these problems should now be fixed.
There's a ton of new screenshots in the Images section of the site, so be sure to check them out!
Body Check Mutator Released 03-May-2005 07:51:34am EST
Second in our line of small diversions comes Body Check:
Body Check is a small mutator that adds drama to your UT2004 games by letting players push each other round the map, and taking out all aspects of air control.
Different approaches can lead to different outcomes, and the many combinations of two opponents colliding in standing, running, jumping and crouching positions adds some fun strategy to the game.
This is basically a test package for the movement we will be implementing in Marshmallow Duel. Some of the mduel-specific code (such as no dodging or double jumping and cooler jumping code) has been removed to make this 'more UT'.
SoldatUT Final Release 13-Apr-2005 05:20:35am EST
What will officially be the final release of SoldatUT (again) just made it onto the files page.
Version 4 not only adds in vehicle and onslaught support (this was in version 3 but I forgot to post news about it), it also fixes up critical bugs which prevented running dedicated servers.
There's some new screens there of vehicles in action so be sure to check it out.
Speaking of SoldatUT, 13 new maps are now available to download, which pospi converted over from the UT2003 mod smashU2k3.
We haven't been able to find out much about the author of these maps yet, so if anybody knows please let us know so we can credit him or her.
New Team Member 09-Apr-2005 11:43:11pm EST
A new team member has officially joined the project today!
Liam will hopefully be doing all our sound for us, because we are pretty lousy at that side of things, and he rocks.
More team members means more time to work on the things we are good at!
Mduel Masters to Join Concept Team! 04-Apr-2005 04:59:01pm EST
Yes, that's right, the guys behind the original Marshmallow Duel are both now playing a small part in MD:MR.
They will be joining as part of our concept team, and will be brainstorming and running ideas around at every opportunity.
This is fantastic news, as it means we can truely make MD:MR a worthy sequel!
Soldat UT v2 22-Mar-2005 09:09:49pm EST
After recieving a lot of interest and bug reports on soldatUT, it has been very easy to assess people's opinion of it and make the mod even better for everyone.
We would like to thank you for your support and interest as this makes developing MD:MR much more rewarding for us, since we get to implement what the community really wants.
So, a new version is now released, which should fix all the problems people had with version 1.
Fixed multiplayer stuttering bug.
Removed player collisions (no more WTF telefrags).
Redid zoom function for scoped weapons, camera now zooms out accordingly.
Tightened camera smoothing to reduce apparent mouse lag on low-end computers.
Better controls - 'Forward' and Backward' keys are now used as jump/duck keys (no more rebinding keys for WSAD users).
Here at MD:MR, we have instigated a policy of releasing interesting things we develop along the road to our finished mod as standalone items for UT2004.
This should help us gauge the effectiveness and appeal of various elements so that we can improve upon them for the finished product.
The first in our series of small UT2004 mods was released yesterday, taking the form of a 2D sidescrolling mod. The mod changes UT gameplay into a 'Soldat' style game, and includes some nice improvements on other 2D mods.
So, click here to download SoldatUT straight away!
Welcome! 12-Mar-2005 06:44:27pm EST
Hello and welcome to the official website for the UT2004 mod, Marshmallow Duel : Mowbray's Revenge!
At the moment there is not much to see - we have an images section with a lonely teaser image sitting in it, which will be filled up rapidly as development progresses.
We want to involve the community as much as possible in our mod's development, so please peruse our developer journals section to see what we are up to on a regular basis.
If you are really interested, send one of the team an email and request a special 'mod watcher' username and password, which you can use to access a restricted area of the site as well as participate in team discussion with us. We will only be offering this service to truely fanatical Marshmallow Duel fans!
Well, that's all for now. Keep posted as we hope to stay very active throughout this project's lifetime. At the moment we are aiming for a prototype release date mid-year, with the full mod being released towards the end of November.
